The Judge of all the earth acts righteously: God judges persistent wickedness according to His word, while faithfully preserving those whom He determines to deliver. The destruction of Sodom does not appear suddenly or without context. Genesis has already revealed the grievous outcry against the cities, the LORD’s deliberate investigation, Abraham’s intercession, the wickedness encountered by the angels, repeated warnings to Lot, and God’s merciful intervention in bringing him out. Genesis 19:23–29 now brings those threads together as warning becomes judgment, while divine remembrance and deliverance remain visible even in the midst of destruction.
